Convertible pants for short gals

White Sierra Convertible Hiking Pants for Short Ladies

Hi! It’s DD! If you couldn’t tell, I’m a pretty short gal, at 5’2″. I’ve always been pretty envious of Willow and her convertible hiking pants, but I’ve been pretty unsuccessful finding some that fit my big hips and my short legs. I was on a mission to find some convertible hiking pants for short ladies that I could wear on our backpacking trip out to Washington State though, and after searching through our regular outfitters, I was pleased to actually find what I was looking for on Amazon!

I started my quest by chatting with Backcountry Gearheads. My requests were: A convertible hiking pant that comes in a 10/12, has a short inseam, and an elastic waistband. The elastic waistband seemed to be the holdup. There are a lot of stretchy versions out there, but I’m hippy, and I don’t like having a muffin top. I also like wearing semi-fitted tops, so the elastic waistband was a must! I came across a brand I was sort of familiar with, White Sierra, and decided to give them a try.

I got a size large, although I probably could have used a medium. I purchased a pair of quick drying athletic thongs from REI and I was able to wear these pants the entire time for our trip!

Do you have any other hiking convertible pants that you want to share? I’d love to know!
