Hey! It’s DD! Matt (he’s my boyfriend 🙂 ) and I had a nice dinner this past weekend on Saturday night at Blaze Bangor . It’s a great Maine Foodie Adventure. It was a great night out with friends. (You might be familiar with our dinner guests… Mike + Jen of The Rusted Raven…)

Blaze Bangor is a great place to have an elegant dining experience, a delicious lunch or a fantastic brunch. The menu is made up of locally sourced culinary delights – things that you wouldn’t expect, nor will you find elsewhere in the Greater Bangor Region. For example – we had ginormous Kobe beef corn dogs for an appetizer! CORN DOGS!!! That was my favorite food when I was a child and I was blissfully happy to order these. A fantastic experiment for anyone with wild palates and looking for a Maine Foodie Adventure.

Kobe Beef Corn Dogs $ 14.50
cornmeal battered kobe beef hot dogs, IPA honey mustard & blood mary ketchup

We also had the Wood-Fired Oysters and the Pork Belly Lollipops to start..

Wood-Fired Oysters $ 20
wilted spinach, Sunset Acres Farm bacon, creamy cheese mix, locally grown microgreens
Pork Belly Lollipops $ 16
crispy fried local pork belly, thai chili sauce, sesame seeds, gochujang aoli

All of these things were delicious. To accompany, we selected some nice beer + wine from the extensive list, which offers many premium wines, signature cocktails, and over 50 craft beers on tap as well as bottles + cans from around the state. I am currently on a Savignon Blanc kick, so that’s what I ordered. The crew had some beers + cocktails. Every drink I’ve had at Blaze has been tasty – Bloody Marys on Sundays, Margaritas on Friday – I’ve never been disappointed! Bonus – they have many wines that I enjoy – I’m kind of a wine snob, but I never have a problem finding something I here.

For dinner we had lots of protein…because what else do you get to eat at a place that cooks everything in a wood fired oven?? (Well, besides pizza…) the boys had the ribs, I had the flat iron steak and Jen had the duck meatball sandwich and some delicious duck fat fries. Everything was delightful + filling. We even had leftovers.

Backyard Ribs $ 22/29
slow cooked ribs, wood oven roasted in Blaze BBQ sauce, roasted fingerling potato, creamy coleslaw. Half rack or full rack
Tennessee Flat Iron $ 25
10 oz flat iron, bourbon marinade, garlic cheddar mashed Maine potato, seasonal vegetable, bacon maple bourbon jam, crispy onions
Duck Meatball Sub $ 14.50
local duck, fresh mozzarella, fire-roasted marinara sauce
Duck Fat Fries $ 5.50/8
House-cut Maine potatoes fried in locally farmed and rendered duck fat

So – if you’re looking for a unique dining experience in the Greater Bangor Region, Blaze is a great destination for you. You can check out their menu on www.bazebangor.com. Be sure to make reservations on a weekend – they fill up fast. You can call them at  (207) 922-2660.

Bonus – the upstairs at Blaze Bangor is a perfect space for private parties + events! I’ve been there a few times and it’s a great space for gatherings – it operates as its own space with a bar, wood fired oven and bathrooms available. Thanks to Wandering Lights for these photos!
