Two Cats – Best places to eat in Bar Harbor
2Cats is one of the top places to have breakfast in Bar Harbor, Maine. They do also serve dinner in the summer, but I haven’t been able to visit for dinner yet. Two Cats is a very popular place, so you should plan to put your name on the list and wait a bit. It’s definitely worthwhile! In the summer, you can sit inside or outside. Both are excellent options, as the inside is funky and eclectic and the outside is great ambiance. Because it’s in an old building, seating can be tight, but everyone is on vacation, so make some new friends!
From DownEast Magazine –
(Owner)Ernie , who moved to Bar Harbor from Torrington, Connecticut, twenty years ago, bought 2 Cats from Sue Jones, the previous owner. He’s kept everything on the original menu, but expanded and updated the offerings with the inventive pancakes, tofu scramble, veggie sausage, and other items. The other items that have changed are the cats themselves. “We have had a few cats with the title ‘One of the 2 Cats,’ says Ernie, “but currently their names are Baby and George.”
Getting There
2Cats is located right on the way in to Bar Harbor! It’s the second right off the Main road as you head into town and 2Cats is right on the right as you take your turn. Parking is roadside, so you’ll probably have to search and walk a bit. You should probably put it in your Google Maps though.
What to Order
Um, everything? This is the ultimate place for breakfast in Bar Harbor. The bloodies are fantastic, and the cocktail menu is fun also. I had the blueberry mimosa and I highly recommend it. As for menu options, definitely get the biscuits with the strawberry butter. Ah! Strawberry butter! amazing. I always get an omelette, but there are many pancake and french toast options as well. My friends got the boozy milkshake, and they loved it. Everything here is delectable. It’s basically the most perfect place for brunch, ever.
Definitely add this to your list when visiting Bar Harbor, or Mount Desert Island. You will not regret it. It is by far one of the top places for breakfast in Bar Harbor!
Happy Trails,
DD
