Bangor City Forest and Orono Bogwalk

Rolland F. Perry City Forest encompasses more than 680 acres of wildlife habitat and working forest in Bangor, Maine, and features more than 4 miles of access roads and more than 9 miles of trails for running, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. It is owned by the city of Bangor and open throughout the year.

Getting to the Bangor City Forest and the Orono Bogwalk

Parking – There are two options for parking, but we always utilize the option on Tripp Drive. It’s a larger lot and you can access many trails from this lot. To get to the Orono Boardwalk from this lot, you just take a right. To view the full trail map, click here. 

Distance from the Bangor Airport – approximately 7 miles, 15 minutes. 

Bangor City Forest and Orono Bogwalk Trail Stats

Length: There are many trails of all lengths at the Bangor City Forest. There is no elevation, so it’s great for running, or walking. For a longer trail, we prefer the East-West Loop Trail – 3.97mi. The Orono Bog Boardwalk Loop is only 0.93 mi, so it’s great for a morning walk with excellent views!

Hiking with dogs: Yes, definitely!

Hiking with kids: Absolutely! The boardwalk is bumpy, so if the kiddos a in a stroller, it might be an issue.

Brewer and Bangor Riverwalk Trail Stats

This trail can be long or short! It’s great for running if you want to tie the two together, or a nice afternoon stroll with the dogs and or kids.
